4M/ICOMM 2009

4M/ICOMM 2009 takes place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 23rd to 25th September 2009 and is the first joint conference organised by the teams behind the USA based International Conference on Micromanufacturing (ICOMM) and the International Conference on Multi-Material Micro-Manufacture (4M) which has its roots in Europe. The submission site to receive papers is open and the deadline to submit is 13th February 2009. Visit the conference webpages for further information.

Change of Project Officer

We received a message from our Project Officer, Hans-Hartmann Pedersen, on 18th December 2009, informing us as follows: "I am writing to inform you that I will be making a small move within Directorate G "Industrial Technologies". On the 1st of January 2009 I will be moving from Unit G2 "New generation Products" to Unit G4 "Nano- and Converging Science and Technologies".
We would like to wish Hans all the best in his new role and to thank him for all the support and guidance he has given to the 4M NoE over the last 4 years.
Hans' successor as project officer for 4M will be Mr. Kai PETERS.

Workshop on Micropumps

With more than 50 participants, mostly from industry, this annual workshop on micropumps continues to grow. The latest, which took place in October 2008 was really very successful, and it resulted in several follow up activities. Report on last workshop

Best PhD in 2009

Guido Tosello of DTU has been awarded a prize for the Best DTU PhD Project 2008 among all the graduates of the university for 2008. Hearty congratulations from all in 4M go to Guido for this achievement.

Vacancy for Assistant Professor

A research position of Assistant Professor is available at Chalmers University, in the area of packaging for electronics, MEMS and bioelectronics. Full details of the position and how to apply are here. Deadline for applications is 28th February 2009.
